Is Angkor temple special dining venue a public place like book and go?
No, it is not. You can not just book a seat and go. Angkor temple dining venue is exclusively private venue for specific event only. There is no permanent dining facilities. All are bringing in from building platform for dining and performances, venue decorations with thousands of candle lights, plants, tables and chairs, AVL system such sound, lighting, kitchen and bar installation for onsite cooking and drinks and more. To set up the event at Angkor temples required special permission from the Government and only some temples are allowed.
Which temples of Angkor temple group are allowed to set up this special gala dinner event?
By ignoring the government events, for private events and best selected temples to setup temple gala dinner events are:
1- Thommanon temple, it is our most favorite temple for group under 200 pax. Thommanon temple shapes and spreading are more like temple not just structure.
2- Ta Keo temple, it is our second best option and best for large group up to 300 pax or bigger on request. Ta keo temple consist of a single large block structure. What concerned most about Te Keo for event is the cost, the decoration and AV setup are double of other temples.
3- Kravan temple, it is the closest, easiest and cheapest temple to set up the temple dining event. In the good weather season, dining platform is not needed. Kravan temple structure is just like a stage backdrop neatly aligned.
4- Banteay Samre temple, it is the furthest around 25km. The impression and costings are similar to Kravan temple. Normally Banteay Samre is considered as the last choice when all other temples are already booked.
5- Terrace of the Elephants, this Angkor temple venue is only suitable for large group up to 1000 seaters. Even the venue is in the complex of Angkor Thom temple sounded by many temples, it is too open and connected to the busy street.

How to organize temple gala dinner event?
Having temple gala dinner is beyond having a dinner. It is a grand event which required a big effort to make it happen. Here are some steps to guide you on how to manage special event at Angkor temples:
– Select the temple, choose the catering company, accept the budget proposal. The costings are varied from temple permission fees, and catering suppliers. – Check the temple availability workout on the dates and put the official Permission Request Application to Apsara National Authority of the government (check out past Temple Dinner Permission Application Form here). The permission request application should be made no earlier than two weeks.
– Once the permission letter granted, make the none-refundable payment from as low as USD 2000. Then you can relax to work on the catering aspects like decorations, menus, drink list, performance but again all must strictly complied with the permission elements (check our past Angkor temple dinner permission letter here).
– On the event execution day, it is all in a rush, the requested temple are only allowed to start setting up from 12:00 noon only, therefore make sure to use only professional caterers and event company who understand well the processes and procedures. Furthermore, everything must be torn down overnight. When the evening comes, the event flows are yours with terms and conditions applied.
